About Friends of Richland

The FOR Club

The FOR Club is Richland Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization. It stands for “Friends of Richland”. It refers to the motto of, For school, For children and For community. The FOR club is run by volunteers to raise money for school activities and programs which are no longer funded by the state. Among many of the activities and programs that the FOR Club supports are the Visual Arts and Performing Arts (VAPA) and the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (STEAM) program. The school counts on the FOR Club to fund these programs, which equates to roughly raising ~$65k per year.

More programs are coming, but we need your help! We are always looking for a few good parents, grandparents, and other family members to help our school. There is no fee to join the club because, as parents of proud mustangs, you are all already members. Attending meetings keeps you up to date on events and fundraisers and informs you of volunteer opportunities. There are regular budget reviews so that you can have a better understanding of funds allocated and funds needed. Meetings are held on the last Monday of every month (unless otherwise communicated) from 6-7pm and childcare for school aged children is provided.

Meet the Executive Board:

Randi Montoya; President

Randi grew up in Bakersfield, CA where she attended Bakersfield College and graduated with an AA in Liberal Studies. For as long as she could remember she wanted to be a teacher. She passed her CBEST and was heading into CSUB when life happened and she became a preschool teacher. She taught for 3 years in Bakersfield and 1 year in Vista, Ca. She loves to spend time with her family. Any free time she has she enjoys reading and crafting. She puts her heart into her work. She enjoys working as a team and is ready to help wherever she is needed. She joined the PTO because she believes every child should have a chance to be the best child they can be and if there is a way she can help to make that happen, she will. She doesn’t do this for herself. She doesn’t do it just for her son. She does it for the school. She does it for the teachers, the parents and the students.

Lena Meum; 1st Vice President

Lena grew up in San Marcos and graduated from San Marcos High School. She completed her undergraduate studies in Business Administration at the University of San Diego and attained her Masters in Business Administration at Cal State San Marcos. She currently works part time as a CA licensed Professional Fiduciary and Estate Planning legal assistant. She and her husband have been San Marcos residents since 2013 and joined the Mustang family in 2017 when their eldest daughter entered into elementary school. They also have a little mustang-in- training at home. She is so excited to be a part of the FOR Club; to invest in the foundation of our children’s earliest educational memories.

Breena Hope; Secretary

Breena grew up in Idaho and moved to Portland, OR after high school where she obtained her BS in Administration of Justice and she started her career as a legal assistant working in dependency law and advocating for foster children as a CASA. She later took some time to travel overseas with her husband and shortly after returning, they started their family and eventually settled here in San Marcos. She has a son in first grade, a son in TK and an eager mustang-to-be at home. This is her first year on the board and she is excited to work together to make our school the best it can be for our children.

Samantha Mayberry; Treasurer

Samantha grew up in Mira Mesa and graduated from Scripps Ranch HS, then earned her BA at SDSU, studying psychology and business administration.
