The FOR Club

The FOR Club is Richland Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization. It stands for “Friends of Richland”. It refers to the motto of, For school, For children and For community. The FOR Club is run by volunteers to raise money for school activities and programs that are no longer funded by the state. Among many of the activities and programs that the FOR Club supports are the Visual Arts and Performing Arts (VAPA) and the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (STEAM) program. The school counts on the FOR Club to fund these programs, which equates to roughly raising ~$65k per year. More programs are coming, but we need your help! We are always looking for a few good parents, grandparents, and other family members to help our school. There is no fee to join the club because, as parents of proud Mustangs, you are all already members. Attending meetings keeps you up to date on events and fundraisers and informs you of volunteer opportunities. There are regular budget reviews so that you can have a better understanding of funds allocated and funds needed. Meetings are held on the last Monday of every month (unless otherwise communicated) from 6-7pm and childcare for school-aged children is provided.

Volunteering

We need your help! We appreciate our volunteers tremendously and count on them to enhance the events we put on for our students, teachers, and school community. For more information on becoming a volunteer, please visit the SMUSD website.

Request for Opt-Out Based on Religious Belief

On June 27, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor, which grants parents/guardians the ability to opt their children out of specific instructional materials or lessons that conflict with their sincerely held religious beliefs.

In the San Marcos Unified School District, one of our core goals is to build welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environments where all students can thrive. We also respect and value the role parents/guardians play as partners in the education of their children. When families have questions about instructional materials or lessons used in their child’s classroom, we encourage them to communicate directly with their child’s teacher(s) or site administrator.

For families wishing to opt out of specific instructional materials or lessons due to sincerely held religious beliefs, please complete the opt-out form below and return it to your child's school site office.
